According to Land Rover, in addition to the regular Defender assessments, it conducted approximately 13,960 additional tests. These testing included endurance runs on snowy routes in Sweden, desert tracks in Dubai, tough terrain in Utah, USA, and the Nürburgring in Germany. The Defender Octa is seen traversing rugged, wet, sandy, and snowy paths in a promotional video. The company hosted special preview events for prospective customers while the product was still under testing.
Like Land Rover’s top-tier Range Rover SV, the Defender Octa will feature the all-new 6D Dynamics air suspension. This configuration has hydraulic dampers that are coupled in order to reduce pitch and roll when stopping, cornering, or accelerating on paved surfaces. In addition, Land Rover claims that for off-road excursions, this revised suspension system will maximize wheel articulation and independent wheel travel.
