Lakshya Chauhan, the 24-year-old son of Delhi Police’s Assistant Commissioner Yashpal Singh, met a tragic end during a trip to a wedding in Haryana. The young lawyer from Tis Hazari court was allegedly pushed into a canal in Haryana by his friends Vikas Bhardwaj and accomplice Abhishek, stemming from an ongoing financial disagreement.
The unfortunate incident unfolded on Monday when Mr. Chauhan, accompanied by Bhardwaj and Abhishek, went to attend a wedding in Sonepat. When he did not return the next day, ACP Yashpal Singh filed a missing complaint, prompting a search operation.
As the investigation progressed, it came to light that the financial dispute between Mr. Chauhan and Bhardwaj has escalated, leading to a sinister plan to eliminate him on this. Bhardwaj claimed that Mr. Chauhan had taken a loan and consistently refused to repay, causing tension between them.
Abhishek, detained after a week-long search, revealed that Bhardwaj had invited him to the wedding and shared his grievances about Mr. Chauhan. The two conspired to murder the top cop’s son during their return journey.
After leaving the wedding function late-midnight, the trio has stopped near the Munak Canal. After exploiting the situation, Bhardwaj and Abhishek has allegedly pushed Mr. Chauhan into the canal nearby and fled the scene quickly by his car.
Upon returning to Delhi, Bhardwaj dropped Abhishek in Narela before disappearing. Abhishek was later apprehended, and based on his statement, a police case was registered.
Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend Bhardwaj as the police intensify their search.
