Ae Watan Mere Watan, Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming historical drama film, is scheduled to release on Prime Video in March. The pre-Independence era movie, according to the OTT behemoth, will be available for streaming on the service starting on March 21. In addition, Sara will feature in the murder mystery movie ‘Murder Mubarak’, which is scheduled to debut on rival Netflix on March 15, just a week sooner.
An excerpt from the teaser showed Sara’s character Usha calling on listeners to rebel against the British via radio. Usha Mehta, a real-life independence fighter, is credited with inspiring the film.
The Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Telugu dubbing of Ae Watan Mere Watan, directed by Kannan Iyer, will be available to watch from March 15 onwards. The movie is supported by Dharmatic Entertainment, which is owned by Somen Mishra, Apoorva Mehta, and Karan Johar.
Darab Farooqui and Kannan co-wrote the movie. On her Instagram account, Sara posted a teaser with the caption, “World Radio Day par! Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani!”, #AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, exclusively on @primevideoin on March 21.”
While talking about production of the film, Karan says, “At Dharmatic Entertainment, we have always taken pride in bringing forth stories that are told from the heart, and Ae Watan Mere Watan exemplifies that.”
He further added: “Sara’s outstanding portrayal of a young rebel enhances Kannan and Darab’s rich narrative with a powerful emotional core, which draws inspiration from a poignant moment in India’s history. For many years, radio has been a popular tool for informing, entertaining, and involving the public. It also plays a significant role in promoting dialogue.” Interestingly, the film release date lies on March 21, World Radio Day.
