Billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy has parted ways with former President Donald Trump’s team in the United States. Ramaswamy is no longer part of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Just hours after Donald Trump took office as President of the United States, officials announced this development. However, Ramaswamy was not removed by Trump; instead, he decided to step down voluntarily. The reason? Ramaswamy is gearing up to run for the Governor’s seat in Ohio.

DOGE was created to focus on reducing government costs. With Ramaswamy stepping down, Elon Musk will now lead the agency alone. Ramaswamy confirmed his departure from DOGE in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “It was an honor to assist in the establishment of DOGE. I am confident that Elon Musk and his team will succeed in streamlining the government.” He added, “I will soon share updates on my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, we will continue to support President Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ initiative.”

In his post, Ramaswamy shared a photo with Elon Musk and captioned it “A New Dawn.”
Before entering politics, Vivek Ramaswamy ran a successful biotech company and is one of the wealthiest individuals in the world. He had expressed his aspirations to run for the U.S. presidency but now appears to be planning a gubernatorial campaign for Ohio in 2026. If successful, he would become the first Indian-American Governor of Ohio.
According to a report by the Associated Press, DOGE spokesperson Anna Kelly said, “Vivek Ramaswamy played a crucial role in the creation of DOGE. He is now planning to run for office, which requires him to step away from DOGE. We are grateful for his contributions.”
