At least four coaches and the engine of the Sabarmati Superfast Express derailed at Ajmer, Rajasthan, after hitting a freight train, causing minor injuries to a number of passengers.

At approximately 1:14 in the morning, the Sabarmati-Agra Cantt Superfast Express train, number 12548, and the freight train crashed in the vicinity of the Madar Railway Station.
The train’s loco pilot applied emergency brakes, but he failed in preventing the crash, according to railway officials.
“Today on March 18 at 01.04 am, train number 12548, Sabarmati-Agra Cantt derailed near the home signal at Madar near Ajmer due to which the engine and four general coaches have derailed. There has been no loss of life in this. Taking immediate action, railway officials have reached the accident site and the accident relief train has reached Madar and track restoration work is being done” a senior official of the North Western Railway said.
