Rushikesh Patel, state health minister of Gujarat said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the opening of the state’s first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot on February 25. The ministry stated that the prime minister would dedicate five AIIMS from Rajkot to the nation on February 25.
Patel informed reporters in Gandhinagar that Modi will inaugurate the in-patient department (IPD) of the super-specialty hospital located in the Para Pipaliya hamlet, which is on the outskirts of Rajkot city. The facility’s OPD is already operational.
In December 2020, Modi used a video call to lay the foundation stone for Rajkot AIIMS. The 201-acre Rajkot AIIMS is an excellent hospital with 720 beds, including ICU and super-specialty beds. On February 25, the prime minister will formally open 250 IPD beds, a 30-bed AYUSH building, and 23 surgical rooms.
Patel indicated a phased approach to making the remaining beds available. He asserted that the outpatient section had already seen roughly 1.44 lakh patients and that the hospital had been built for a total of Rs 1,195 crore.
According to a government notification, the prime minister is expected to arrive at Rajkot AIIMS on Sunday afternoon and will make a speech at a rally at the city’s Race Course field later in the evening. The announcement states that he would take part in a roadshow that runs from the site of the public gathering to the old airport, a distance of one kilometer.
According to Patel, at the function, the prime minister will also essentially launch four others newly built AIIMS. They are located in Kalyani (West Bengal), Bathinda (Punjab), Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh), and Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh).
He said that the five super-specialty hospitals, including the Rajkot facility, were built at a cost of Rs 6,300 crore by the Center. Modi will also establish the groundwork for projects totaling Rs 48,000 crore across a number of federal and state ministries, including as NHAI, Railways, Energy and Petrochemicals, Road and Building, Ports, and Health and Family Welfare, according to the minister.
He stated that of them, projects totaling Rs 35,700 crore are for Gujarat and the remaining amount is for other states.
Patel stated that the prime minister would unveil a number of noteworthy projects, including the construction of a new cardiology facility in Vadodara, the doubling of the Rajkot-Surendranagar railway line, the Mundra Panipat crude oil pipeline, and power production projects in Kutch.
