In a surprising turn of events, Deepika Padukone has reportedly exited Spirit, the much-hyped pan-India project directed by Kabir Singh and Animal filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and starring South superstar Prabhas. The film, which had already stirred significant buzz with Deepika’s reported casting, now faces a major shake-up.

According to sources cited by Gulte, Deepika’s departure wasn’t without drama. Insiders claim the actress had made a series of “unprofessional” demands that didn’t sit well with the filmmaker. Among them? An 8-hour workday (with only 6 hours allotted for actual shooting), a sky-high pay check, and a share in the film’s profits, a combination that reportedly raised eyebrows on the production side.

Further complicating matters, Deepika allegedly declined to deliver her dialogues in Telugu, a key requirement for the multilingual project. These creative and logistical clashes are said to have frustrated Sandeep Reddy Vanga to the point where he began searching for a replacement.
Interestingly, Spirit was expected to be one of the biggest paydays of Deepika’s career, with a reported fee of ₹20 crore. However, the timeline of events suggests that her pregnancy may have initially caused delays in the film’s production, originally scheduled to kick off in late 2024. After rejecting the project due to scheduling conflicts, she reportedly agreed to join following revised plans only for things to unravel over time.
