Congress MP Gets Piggyback Ride
Flood-hit Bihar witnessed an unusual sight this week when Congress MP Tariq Anwar was spotted being carried on the back of a villager during his inspection tour in Katihar. The viral video shows locals wading through muddy, waterlogged fields while the 72-year-old MP held on tightly, a scene that quickly turned into the talk of the town.

Anwar, who was on a two-day flood inspection in his constituency, had already travelled by tractor, boat, and even bike to meet families marooned by rising waters. But when his vehicle got stuck and the group had to walk several kilometres under the blazing sun, the veteran leader reportedly felt dizzy. That’s when villagers stepped in quite literally to lift him on their backs.

Katihar District Congress President Sunil Yadav defended the incident, saying:
“It was extremely hot, and Mr Anwar was feeling unwell. His head was spinning. The villagers picked him up themselves, purely out of love, and carried him through.”

The video shows villagers carefully holding Anwar steady while a police officer walks alongside, ensuring the MP doesn’t topple over. Other visuals from his visit show him walking under umbrellas held by aides, or riding on a tractor with locals as floodwaters raged around.
Despite the political chatter, Anwar stayed focused on relief efforts. Sharing clips from his tour on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote about standing in solidarity with flood-hit families and urged the government to release immediate aid.
