Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared, “Tonight, we have resumed the fight in Gaza.” Meanwhile, CNN quoted Hamas official Basem Naim, who accused Israel of unilaterally breaking the ceasefire. Naim stated that at least 34 people had been killed in the latest attacks. Hamas also issued a statement condemning the Israeli government, claiming, “Netanyahu and his extremist government have decided to end the ceasefire agreement, putting the fate of hostages in Gaza at risk.”

The situation on the ground is dire. Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that several homes have been destroyed, with many people trapped under the rubble. Local journalists have shared reports of multiple explosions across Gaza on social media. In Gaza City, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal confirmed that at least 15 people, including five children, have been killed, with over 20 others injured. In central Gaza, particularly in the Nuseirat refugee camp, airstrikes on residential areas have left over 70 wounded, many of whom have been rushed to Al-Awda Hospital.

The ceasefire had lasted for nearly two months before collapsing. Following the attacks, Israel issued a strong warning. Defense Minister Gallant stated that if Hamas does not release the remaining 59 hostages, “the gates of hell will open for Gaza.” He further threatened, “Hamas will face an unprecedented level of force like never before.” Gallant reiterated that Israel had resumed military operations in response to Hamas’ refusal to release hostages and its continued threats against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians.
