Prior to pursuing a career in acting, Deepika Padukone worked as a model. She was chosen as the 2005 “Kingfisher Model of the Year” and included in the Kingfisher Calendar. She debuted at Lakmé Fashion Week the same year, walking the ramp for designer Suneet Varma.
Music that made her career
Very few know that Deepika got her big break from Naam Hai Tera music video in 2006, and man behind her launch was Himesh Reshammiya, the songwriter and music director. The celebrity was discovered by Farah Khan, the director of Om Shanti Om, who then chose to cast her opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal as Shanti Priya.
