On Tuesday afternoon, Shubham and his wife set out for a peaceful horse ride in the idyllic Baisaran meadows near Pahalgam. But the beauty of the moment was shattered by gunfire. According to his uncle, Manoj Dwivedi, the couple was confronted by terrorists who demanded their identities before executing Shubham in cold blood, right in front of his wife.

He was among 26 civilians killed in what is being described as one of the deadliest attacks in the region’s recent history.
The grief has echoed far beyond the village. Kanpur Police Commissioner and District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh personally visited Shubham’s family, delivering a message of condolence from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
