2 Women Killed as Water Tank Collapses
A sad incident occurred in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, when a tall water tank fell in the Krishna Vihar Colony. Sundari (65) and Sarita (27), both women, were killed and 11 others were injured when the tank collapsed and rubble smothered them.

The collapse caused damage to surrounding structures and flooded some residences. Police and rescue personnel, including the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), responded immediately to assist them. Thirteen individuals were rescued, including five ladies, and sent to the District Hospital. One of the injured, Nawab (35), was sent to Agra’s SN Medical College due to his critical condition.

The District Magistrate, Shailendra Kumar Singh, claimed that the 2,500-kilolitre tank, erected in 2021 at a cost of Rs 6 crore under the Gangajal Drinking Water Project, collapsed about 5 p.m. due to rain. He pledged to investigate why the tank, which was only three years old, crashed. The rescue attempts continue, as more individuals may be trapped beneath the wreckage.

Shrikant Sharma, a BJP MLA, visited the injured in the hospital and told them that strong action will be carried out against those responsible for the tank’s construction. An FIR has been issued to initiate a formal investigation into the occurrence.
