Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, defeated his former ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), led by Tejashwi Yadav, 130-0 in the Assembly’s floor test today.
The trust vote took place two weeks after Nitish switched allegiance to the NDA coalition from the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), which was formed by the JD(U), RJD, and Congress.
Three Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs namely Prahlad Yadav, Neelam Devi, and Chetan Anand joined the NDA caucus during the session.
Nitish Kumar claimed in his Assembly speech that the RJD was attempting to claim credit for the projects he had initiated. Additionally, he said that the Lalu Prasad-Rabri Devi administrations had done nothing to advance Bihar’s growth for fifteen years.
Prior to the vote, the Assembly considered and approved a resolution of no confidence in Speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary, with 125 members voting in favor of the removal.
In anticipation of the exam on Monday, the Congress sent its legislators to Hyderabad last week due to worries about “poaching,” the RJD’s legislators chose to remain in Tejashwi Yadav’s home, while BJP leader Nityanand Rai asserted that all 78 of the saffron party’s legislators were staying at a Patna hotel. Additionally, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) managed to secure hotel accommodations for forty of its MLAs in the state capital.
